Post Surgery Instructions
General instructions after retina surgery
Please follow the instruction sheet given to you after your surgery.
(Milky Drops/Pink or White Cap) Use 6 times a day for 1 week,
Prednisone Acetate 1% then 4 times a day for 1 week,
Pred Forte or Econopred Drops then 2 times a day for 1 week,
then 1 time a day for 1 week, then stop
(Tan Cap)
Vigamox (or other antibiotic) Drops Use 4 times a day for 1 week, then stop
or until bandage contact is removed
You may use over-the-counter Tylenol for pain or over-the counter Ibuprofen if you are not able to take Tylenol.
Please make sure to attend your post-operative appointment scheduled the day after your surgery.
Please follow positioning instructions, if any, given to after your surgery.
DO NOT lift greater than 20 pounds or do very heavy work for two weeks.
You may:
Shower from the neck down and use a washcloth for your face (please use baby shampoo to avoid eye rubbing).
You may read or watch TV as long as you maintain head positioning if necessary.
You also may walk briskly, ride a stationary bicycle, and do light housework after one week.
PLEASE WEAR YOUR GREEN BRACELET (IF YOU WERE GIVE ONE) UNTIL YOUR GAS BUBBLE IS GONE.
